SUMMER CAMP 2009

Do the WRITE thing this summer-enroll your child in one of our 2009 Summer Handwriting Camps.

No, we won't be sitting at desks and writing for 3 hours! That would be boring for campers and instructors. Our camp classes are designed with fun and learning in mind because it is when students are engaged in the learning process that real learning occurs.

  • Repetition is essential for retention so students will have opportunities to write on the chalkboard, in instant snow, popping paint, color changing markers and other fun writing media as well as with a pencil.
  • They'll travel to our hand skill area where they will work on very specific fine motor skills that are essential for handwriting. Increasing strength and stability in the wrist and hand is not obtained through video games. Rather, by participating in challenging hand games and activities that work all 38 muscles (yes, there are that many muscles!).
  • A short craft and snack time will keep their fingers moving and their brains working.
  • Handwriting games and activities that reinforce correct letter formation as well as our Secrets 2 Success tie everything together and provide yet another opportunity to practice what they are learning.

Your child will be surprised when they find out how fun handwriting camp can be!

Camps

Little Hands-Big Letters is for pre-kindergarten students and focuses on developing specific fine motor skills that are essential for correct pencil grip and pencil manipulation as well as upper case letter formation in developmentally appropriate ways. In order to maximize attention and learning, these camps have little ones attending for one hour each day for two weeks. That's a total of 10 hours of fun and learning designed to give your little one an early positive experience with handwriting.

Kindergarten Handwriting Readiness is our most popular camps. We offer both uppercase and lowercase camps so if getting your child prepared for the increasing demands of kindergarten is on the top of your list this summer, Helping Hands Write is your answer!

Printing Camps for 1st-3rd graders and Cursive Camps for 3rd-5th graders help struggling writers and those needing a more solid foundation of skills as well as students whose parents want to give them a head start.
